Rise Up Cambridge's research and learning agenda

The Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) Fund was created to support Cambridge RISE, a philanthropically funded guaranteed income pilot program that provided $500 a month to 130 single caregivers for 18 months.

That paved the way for Rise Up Cambridge, the City of Cambridge’s scaled GBI program and the first non-lottery cash assistance program in the country supporting almost 2,000 families (earning at or below 250% FPL with kids aged 21 and younger). Payments to families are funded through the City’s allocation of American Recue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

Today, the Fund supports community engagement efforts and robust research around the effects of Rise Up Cambridge. Driven by the Foundation’s commitment to creating long-term impact, the Fund is grounded in our vision to better understand the impacts of GBI and leverage this research to continue supporting families and ensure that our city is a place where we can all thrive.

We thank you for joining us in this effort.

The Guaranteed Basic Income Fund is a Fund at the Cambridge Community Foundation.
